BUTFF, the B-movie, Underground and Trash Film Festival takes place this year between 7 and 11 September in Breda. In this first newsletter we will announce some highlights. Is this email not displaying correctly?

BUTFF PREVIEW
On wednesday the 24th of august a BUTFF Preview will take place at Roodkapje Rotterdam.The program will be: an introduction of the festival by the director, a short film, a trailer of Nick Zedd (BUTFF's mainguest) and a feature film to get a taste of the festival. The PREVIEW starts at 19:30 o'clock at Roodkapje, Meent 119 - 133 in Rotterdam.
Not-super-glossy-mega-pixel
This years festival theme is: Beyond Reality. Think of special-effects made with minimal or homemade means. This is the case for the Gore by Fred ' August Underground' Vogel, who will introduce his new movie ' Sella Turcica'. Director Lee Dovey and producer Colin Arnold of 'The Fallow Field' (2009) will also be attending the BUTFF. There will be a European Premiere of ' The Tunnel', an Australian horror movie that was funded completely by crowd-funding, will be screened at BUTFF for the first time in Europe!
BUT Awards
The BUT-Awards will be given by a jury, which is made up of Clay Liford (US, winner BUT Award 2010), Christoffel Manders (NL, professor in Film and Animation History at the Academy St. Joost in Breda) and Patrick van Hauwaert (BE, director of the Razor Reel Film Festival in Bruges).
Poet-performances
As an extra program by the BUT Film Festival, for the second time, the BUT-poets platform and the Wandering Poets & Performers Project will be organized. With a unique performance from Luk Paard (B), poetry-performer loving the rock ‘n roll, and the spinyopaat Sven de Swerts (B), playwright, actor and poet.
Legendary director Nick Zedd (US) at BUTFF 2011!
Nick Zedd (US), the man behind Cinema of Transgression, is the guest of honor at BUTFF 2011. Zedd, along with fellow directors such as Richard Kern and Lydia Lunch, made shocking films filled with sex, violence and black humor. Nick Zedd will also visit Worm Rotterdam and Cinema Nova in Bruxelles after attending BUTFF 2011.

BUTRR
New this year is the BUTRR program. A collaboration with the Belgian Razor Reel Fantastic Film Festival in Bruges. French director Simon de Pernolitz will show his first feature film Machuinas Infernales (2010) at both festivals. The film is not yet finished. The last scene will be finished on stage under his direction. Live for the audience!

Side Program
Art
Amsterdam based artist Erik Alkema takes the festival by storm with his sculptures. His work aims to unmask, confront, and open the eyes, or close them.
Comic
During the BUTFF the Bredase Comic Days will take place. At BUTFF the raw edges of the comic book cultures can be seen with the works of FuFu Fraunwalh, Dirk Verschuren and Joost Halbersma.
Marian Dora (D)
Another big name at BUTFF 2011 is the German director Marian Dora. Dora directed 2006’s Cannibal, inspired by the notorious German cannibal Amim Meiwes. At BUTFF 2011, his latest film Reise nach Agatis (2010) will be shown.
Fashionable barf bags
New this year is the BUTWALK, a fashion show on the red carpet in the center square of the Nieuwe Veste, the heart of the festival, organized by Hermine Weggen, performer and visual artist. For this occasion, special fashionable barf bags. Not suitable for children under age 16 and prissy fashionistas.
Music
BUTFF has managed to bring in Martin Degville of Sigue Sigue Sputnik. This band will surely bring up memories from the 80s due to the external noise by which the form trumped content. Martin Degville has been solo for quite some time but still plays the Sigue Sigue Sputnik hits. Another highlight from the music program is Black Friday, featuring such excellent metal as Botulism, Walpuris Nacht and Cirith Gorgor. On Sonic Sunday erotic artist Costes (F) will be back on the BUT-floor.

Wandering Poets
The Wandering Poets and Performers program will give way to many more poets and performers in the street and other locations of the festival. Michiel van der Weerthof, song writer and performer, functions as a red thread through the festival. A lot of movement and action with a good dose of ‘BUT-sauce.’
